Get out your needle and floss… and join us for an interactive online class to kickstart your embroidery skills!
We’ll talk about how to get started with the essential supplies and together practice straight, back, and satin stitches. No experience necessary!
Assembly Online Jumpstart Classes are designed for beginners to build confidence with new crafting tools and techniques, all from the comfort of their kitchen table (which doesn’t have to be located in Portland!). It’s the kick in the pants needed to get out those new supplies and give it a try!
Follow along and ask questions in real time with instruction and demonstration from our talented Teaching Artists via the Zoom video platform. You’ll log off with the inspiration to get started on your next project!
How to join:
Register here and gather the necessary supplies (see below). The class will be hosted virtually through Zoom and the details for joining will be emailed to you after you register. Learn more about the technology and accessing our online class.
Please note: class time listed is Pacific Time Zone.
Class Tools & Supplies You’ll Need:
- Embroidery hoop (4”-6” in diameter would be best)
- Light colored non-stretchy fabric, ideally cotton or linen (cut square at least 3” larger in diameter than your hoop)
- Embroidery needle (with largest eye you can find, such as size 1 or 2 / or size 20 if a chenille needle)
- Embroidery floss (color is your choice!)
If you don’t have the embroidery supplies on hand, we’ve got you covered!
Select to add the "Embroidery Jumpstart Kit" to your registration (+$10).
Jumpstart Kit includes:
- 5" wooden hoop
- Chenille embroidery needle- size 20. This needle size has a slightly bigger eye which makes it easier to thread!
- Linen blend fabric- 8"x8"
- Skein of embroidery floss (color may vary)
These supplies are available to ship and also for local pick up in the studio. Please order in advance to make sure they’ll arrive in time!

Pick up in the studio: Check out out the available times for pickup in the studio
Ship to Oregon/Washington: Order 3-5 business days before class (2 day priority mail shipping available)
Ship to rest of US: Order 5-7 business days before class (2-3 days priority mail shipping available)
Please let us know as soon as possible if you're unable to attend. We will issue refunds, transfers, or credits of the class registration fee only ($20) and require contact via email in advance of the class with the request. Once the supplies are shipped or marked as ready for pickup, these are now yours to keep regardless if you're able to attend class!
