Learn the basic techniques of mixed-media collage during this expressive and exploratory class that will guide you through creating a work of art rich with texture and colorful layers.

You’ll explore working with supplies such as patterned papers, paints, texture mediums, and stamps while you create a unique and meaningful artwork on an 8”x10” canvas. 

Mixed-media collage is a highly intuitive art form with lots of room for creative curiosity. It’s beginner-friendly as well as useful for the more experienced art maker. 

All supplies are provided. You just bring You.

Teaching Artist

 

Pamela Sue Johnson is a mixed-media collage artist and instructor based in Vancouver, Washington, or VanFunky as Pamela fondly likes to call her home. Her work has been featured in Somerset Studio magazine as well as numerous local cafes and bars. She is known for her highly engaging teaching style that inspires her students to indulge their creative exploration. When she is not art making or leading a workshop, Pamela can be found kayaking or wandering around in a forest.  You can learn more about her at www.pamelasuejohnson.com

Important Info

Unless otherwise noted, workshops are for those 16 years of age or over. 

Cancellation Policy-

A 72 hour notice via email prior to class is required to issue a refund of the class fee.

A 48 hour notice via email prior to class is required to reschedule or issue class credit. 

If the class size minimum is not met 48 hours before class, Assembly may cancel class and all registered students will be notified via email.

Come get creative at Assembly’s studio storefront in Southeast Portland located in the vibrant Clinton-Division neighborhood.

We're aligning with federal, state, and local guidelines to mitigate as many risks as we can in creating a healthy and safe (and fun!) environment to work and make. This includes updated cleaning protocols, new methods of providing technique demonstrations, and little to no shared supplies between students. 

Please note:

  • Classes are filled to less than 50% capacity (max of 9 people) to allow for physical distancing (6+ ft) between the seats at our 3 large tables.
  • Seats are pre-assigned and people registered together will be seated together as a party. If you've signed up separately from a friend and want to sit together, please email to let us know!
  • Face coverings are required

The Assembly studio serves a variety of beverages for your crafting pleasure!

  • Local craft beer, wine, and hard cider
  • Coffee, hot tea, Mexican hot chocolate, spiced apple cider
  • Assorted cold non-alcoholic drinks, such as sparkling waters, kombucha, iced tea, and more!

We accept cash and all major credit cards. Bringing in outside alcohol is prohibited.
