Get out your burner… and join us for an interactive online class to kickstart your pyrography decorative wood burning skills!

We’ll talk tools, tips, wood, and safety and together practice various mark making techniques using the straight and rounded tips.  No previous experience necessary!

Assembly Online Jumpstart Classes are designed for beginners to build confidence with new crafting tools and techniques, all from the comfort of their kitchen table (which doesn’t have to be located in Portland!). It’s the kick in the pants needed to get out those new supplies, plug it in, and give it a try!

Follow along and ask questions in real time with instruction and demonstration from our talented Teaching Artists via the Zoom video platform. You’ll log off with the inspiration to get started on your next project!

How to join:

Register here and gather the necessary supplies (see below). The class will be hosted virtually through Zoom and the details for joining will be emailed to you after you register. Learn more about the technology and accessing our online class.

Please note: class time listed is Pacific Time Zone.

Callie McAuliffe Assembly Teaching Artist

Callie McAuliffe is a native Portlander who found her love of arts and crafts at an early age. After briefly experimenting with many mediums such as acrylic painting, block printing, and watercolors, she finally found her favorite creative outlets. Artist and creator behind Designs Da Lúa, she specializes in loom weaving, paper quilling, pyrography, and string art. Callie loves bright colors and drawing inspiration from the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. She has been teaching classes since 2018, and when not teaching arts and crafts, she is teaching students life skills as a school counselor. Craft nights and crafternoons are some of Callie’s favorite things, especially when they bring makers together!
