Get out your paints and brush… and join us for a live interactive online class to kickstart your watercolor painting skills!
We’ll talk about watercolor tools and supplies and together we’ll practice mixing colors and basic techniques for painting shapes. No previous experience necessary!
Assembly Online Jumpstart Classes are designed for beginners to build confidence with new crafting tools and techniques, all from the comfort of their kitchen table (which doesn’t have to be located in Portland!). It’s the kick in the pants needed to get out those new supplies and give it a try!
Follow along and ask questions in real time with instruction and demonstration from our talented Teaching Artists via the Zoom video platform. You’ll log off with the inspiration to get started on your next project!
How to join:
Register here and gather the necessary supplies (see below). The class will be hosted virtually through Zoom and the details for joining will be emailed to you after you register. Learn more about the technology and accessing our online class.

Class Tools & Supplies You’ll Need:
- Tube watercolor paints in red, yellow, and blue
- Flat palette
- Round size 8 or 10 watercolor brush
- A few sheets of watercolor paper
- Water cup
- A few paper towels
If you don’t have the watercolor supplies on hand, we’ve got you covered!
Select to add on the Watercolor Supply Kit to your registration (+$38).
This kit includes:
- Three 8ml tubes of high quality Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolor paint (red, yellow, and blue)
- Round size 8 paint brush
- Flat palette 8.5"x8.5"
- 15 sheet pack of 5”x7” watercolor paper
- Cotton storage bag
These supplies are available to ship and also for local pick up in the studio. Please order in advance to make sure they’ll arrive in time!

Ship to Oregon/Washington: Order 3-5 business days before class (2 day priority mail shipping available)
Ship to rest of US: Order 5-7 business days before class (2-3 days priority mail shipping available)
Please let us know as soon as possible if you're unable to attend. We will issue refunds, transfers, or credits of the class registration fee only ($20) and require contact via email in advance of the class with the request. Once the supplies are shipped or marked as ready for pickup, these are now yours to keep regardless if you're able to attend class!

Elizabeth Higgins, primarily a watercolor artist, has lived in Oregon since 1995, where she maintains a studio in SE Portland and teaches art classes for various cultural organizations. Painting is joyful and playful to her, and this is reflected in her bright, warm-colored art. She is a juried member of Watercolor Society of Oregon, is a contributing artist at Catherine Bede Gallery, and has had her work featured on the “Portlandia” television series.
